Shadowverse Marketing Campaign

Since its launch in June last year, Shadowverse has established itself as Japan’s leading digital strategic card game, and is at the forefront of Japan’s burgeoning esports scene. As it continues to advance across North America and Europe, naturally they needed a big presence for North American gaming conventions like PAX, TwitchCon, and E3.

As part of a multi-faceted marketing campaign, WAYPOINT was asked to create a range of digital and physical materials to promote the game and connect with fans. The goal of our campaign was to build buzz surrounding high-profile gaming events as well as engage fans and streamers with a physical presence – collectible swag, game cards, and replica weapons from their favorite characters.

WAYPOINT’s creative direction and execution included social media videos, cosplay weapons, animated GIFs, swag and giveaways, and promotional printed materials. Our team helped design and produce a convention booklet, custom Uchiwa fans, character buttons featuring signature taglines and battlecrys, and social media videos promoting downloads and giveaways. Participants, Influencers, and streamers were given the swag when they visited the Shadowverse booth, which featured live gameplay as well as a meet and greet with top Shadowverse streamers. From prizes to booth signage, WAYPOINT helped increase brand awareness and brought the spectacle of Cygames’ digital card game to real life.
