Product Photography

As a video game creative agency like WAYPOINT, one of the four key creative services we specialize in is crafting exceptional collector’s editions. These editions often include press kits, giant statues, figurines, swag items, holograms, and much more. These unique and high-quality items are designed to elevate the gaming experience, offering fans and collectors something truly special to treasure. Given the significance of these projects, it’s crucial for us to effectively promote and showcase the work we've done over the past few years. Capturing clean and visually appealing shots of our projects is absolutely vital to achieving this goal.

This aspect of our work falls under commercial photography, where product photos are strategically used to advertise and highlight the intricate details of each item. The challenges in product photography are numerous and can include achieving the right lighting, managing shadows—whether soft or hard, depending on the desired effect—controlling reflections, minimizing distortion, and maintaining overall consistency across shots. Each of these factors plays a critical role in presenting our collector's items in the best possible light, literally and figuratively.

One of the first projects I was tasked with involved taking photos of some of our collector’s items. Admittedly, photography was a skill I still needed to work on at the time. However, after completing several of these photoshoots, I’ve grown much more comfortable handling a DSLR camera. Lighting, in particular, was a significant challenge for me initially. Through extensive research and practice, I gradually overcame these difficulties, ultimately producing a series of successful shots that effectively showcased the products' unique features.

In the realm of video game merchandising services, where the presentation of products can significantly impact a brand's appeal, mastering the art of product photography is essential. Below are just a couple of the shots I was pleased with in the end, each representing the culmination of my efforts to capture the essence of these meticulously crafted collector’s items.
