Bandai Namco’s Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare is the first mobile action game in the legendary franchise. We were pleased to take part in the marketing with a videogame gameplay trailer. The live-action intro is the star of the show for this one, featuring the CG animation of a disassembling Gundam Barbatos. Live-action compositing was used to add the gameplay footage as well as the hologram VFX elements. Sound design played a big role in selling the live-action segment which was filmed without audio. Mobile games pose a unique challenge, as they are often in portrait mode, when most trailers are landscape. We featured the gameplay footage in a full motion graphics scene. This scene and the animated end card were designed in the floating square motif of the game’s menu screens.
